History of the Playstation Saga - Technology - Electronics

Sony Entertainment is the mastermind behind the PlayStation series. Everything started in December, in the year 1994...

The Original PlayStation:

This was the first console that Sony published. It aired on 3rd December, 1994. The blueprints of this fifth generation console go back almost 10 years before it's release. The console came with two controllers and two Memory Cards. These memory cards were used as a storage device where you could store the save file of the games you played. The most sold game on this console was "Gran Turismo" with over 10 million sold copies. Other honorable mentions are "Syphon Filter", "Final Fantasy VII", and "Resident Evil 2". The PS1 was competing with the Nintendo 64 and the Sega Saturn. As he was the first installment of the series there were problems with it, and a lot of console repair was needed.

PlayStation 2:

Released in March 4, 2000, the PS2 is a sixth generation console. This was the time when the two big rivals first met. The PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. This is the most sold console ever made, with over 150 million units sold in a 10 year period, and around 900,000 sold only one day after release. The PS2 also used a Memory Card, but a 8mb one. Also it was compatible to use DvD discs rather then normal ones. This is when Sony released a Slim version of the console, and game it's user base the first online experience through the PlayStation Network Adapter. The games were that kept PS2 alive. With games like "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" and "Metal Gear Solid 3", the PS2 dominated its competitors on the market. Also this is the console that had the "EyeToy" and the DvD remote controller accessories. With all these gadgets and famous games the PS2 didn't have anyone or anything that could have stopped it.

PlayStation 3:

We are in the year 2006, and Sony just released a new console with things that we never heard of before. Motion sensor controllers, Blue-ray discs as storage devices, full high-definition game graphics and the popular PlayStation Network. What would you do? Of course, run to the nearest store and buy it. Sony knew this as well. The console came with the new "SIXAXIS" wireless controller. PS3 has a slim version as well, just like his older brothers. Around this time is when Microsoft released the Xbox 360, and thus the battle began, The PS3 vs. Xbox 360. Many accessories were made for the PS3, like the wheel and PlayStation Move. As of course with many gadgets comes the problem. There are some major errors on the console, which can be repaired with a PS3 repair service.
