A little over than a decade ago, most of us were contented playing games with cheap graphics on our very first Playstation console. Although there are a few that offers good cinematic, the game play was always presented in a 2d display. But we did not complain and never find it boring. Of course, we were all limited by the technology of those days.
Then, came the Playstation 2 that mainly featured dvd games and offered better picture resolution. A lot were excited of course because it offered better game play than the first one. But since it uses the same RCA connection that we have on our old PS console, the total experience turned out to be a disappointment.Future Technology for Sony Playstation Console
Six years after PS2 was released, Sony made its debut of the Playstation 3 to the market that redefined gaming console to a new level. It also served as Sony's carrier as they compete with Microsoft's XBOX 360, the 2nd generation of XBOX, and Nintendo's Wii. These consoles are part of the seventh generation of gaming consoles, the current generation for consoles of the year 2012. One of the key features of the PS3 is it maximizes the quality of your HDTV when Sony decided to incorporated HDMI to the console. And because this gaming system uses Blu Ray discs, you can imagine the excellent quality of picture, images, and the great change in game play compared to the first two consoles.
The latest console not only offers an improvement of its game plays, but it also features a few applications that you can use. Because you can hook it up to the internet via Ethernet, it gives you access to the Playstation Network that allows you to play with other players online. It also has the Playstation Store where one can purchase game, add-on contents, and other free downloadable programs.
They even made it better when Sony made the Playstation Move, a motion-sensing controller similar to Wii, and Sony's answer to XBOX's Kinect. So aside from the traditional vibrating joystick, some PS3 games are played using PS Move to have a better game style, just like one of their golf games where you would really need to swing the stick like Tiger Woods.
But with the increasing demands for improvement and the tight competition, plans for future technology in gaming consoles are underway for Sony. Early 2011, there were already rumors that Sony is already conceptualizing Playstation 4 for a 2013 or 2014 release.
